Protest Cross-Bronx Road
Two hundred residents and businessmen of the Unionport section of the Bronx held an organizing rally last night in an apartment house at 2108 Gleason Avenue to protest the proposed destruction of their homes and shops to make way for the $38,670,000 “Cross-Bronx Expressway.” Construction of the expressway is scheduled to start June 1 and Borough President James J. Lyons has sent letters to the 700 families, involving 2,400 persons, that they must vacate the structures by that date.
